Drywall sheets are easy to bend and highly flexible. Thanks to these qualities, walls and ceilings can take on various shapes, transforming any room to match your preferences. The material is lightweight and relatively inexpensive.

Drywall installation falls under the category of dry construction. It’s important to note that every room is unique and requires carefully selected drywall sheets with specific characteristics and purposes. For wet areas, moisture-resistant drywall or gypsum fiberboard is a must. For constructing walls in dry rooms, standard drywall is the best choice. In spaces prone to fire, fire-resistant drywall is recommended (e.g., when constructing attic spaces with wooden roof structures). We differentiate between two main methods of drywall installation: using a structure or adhesive.

Installation Using a Structure

  • Ceilings: Includes suspended and grid ceilings.
  • Walls: Includes partition walls and wall cladding. Wall cladding and ceiling construction are primarily used to easily straighten old surfaces, insulate with wool for heat and soundproofing, and provide a smooth, even base for plastering and painting.
  • The space between the old surface and the drywall can be filled with appropriate wool, which provides thermal, sound, and fireproof insulation.
  • The space loss for wall cladding and ceiling installation is approximately 5 cm.
  • The joints between drywall sheets are always filled with a special joint compound and tape. We prefer using a self-adhesive reinforcing tape for drywall joints.
  • The most commonly used drywall sheets are 12.5 mm thick for walls and 9.5 mm thick for ceilings.
  • The structure consists of different types of metal profiles, depending on the application. These profiles are mounted using rapid screws, buttons, direct hangers, and dowel nails.

Drywall structures can also be used to create drywall boxes, which are primarily intended to hide pipes.

Adhesive Installation

This method is recommended for walls, columns, and window and door frames.

  • Drywall is attached in patches or lumps using high-quality adhesives specifically designed for drywall.
  • The space loss depends on the wall’s unevenness but typically ranges from 4 to 5 cm.

The main goal of adhesive installation is to easily and practically straighten walls.
